At Penny Pot Nursery we aim to provide and offer our children a varied diet that includes ingredients from the 4 main food groups:-
Potatoes, Bread, Rice and Pasta
Fruit and Vegetables
Beans, Pulses, Fish, Meat and Eggs
Dairy
Our carefully planned menus ensure all children are provided with their 5 a day. The menus encourage children to experience a diverse range of tastes, textures and flavours.
All our food is freshly prepared and cooked on site and we cater for specific dietary requirements for our children wherever possible.
Meals are served between the following times:-
Breakfast 7.30am - 8.45am
Lunch 11.30am - 12.30pm
Snack 1.45pm - 2.30pm
High Tea 3.30pm - 4.15pm
Our menus are planned on a 4 weekly cycle and are reviewed and changed where necessary based on the childrens likes and dislikes as well as based on availability of some seasonal products.
Bright Buttons (Under 2's)
We provide suitable weaning foods and will puree / blend them depending on the age, stage and development of the baby. Throughout the weaning process we will work closely with parents when introducing new foods.
For those babies who require milk during their nursery day, we ask parents to supply the formula milk and bottles and the nursery staff will make up the bottles as and when required. If a parent is still breastfeeding and wishes to bring in a supply of breast milk we have the facility to freeze this milk and are happy to continue to feed a baby with their mother's milk.
Roaring Rockets (2-3 years) and Superstars (3-5 years)
Mealtimes are not seen as "just a part of a child's daily routine" but are viewed as an important learning opportunity. The children are encouraged and supported to self serve their drinks and food wherever possible.
Mealtimes are a social occasion and during meal times, the staff team take the opportunity to talk to the children about food as well as engage in discussions around different topics.
Bright Buttons and Clever Cats eat in their rooms and Superstars eat in the main hall
Under the Food Standards Agency our Food Hygiene Rating is 5 - Very good.
