At Penny Pot Nursery we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) which is a stage of children's development from birth to the end of their first (Reception) year in school. 

The EYFS is made up of 7 Areas of Learning, these are split into 3 Prime Areas and 4 Specific Areas;

 For children under 3 years of age we focus on the 3 prime areas of development and for children over the age of 3, we focus on all 7 areas of learning. 

When planning activities for the children we focus on their current interests as well as our observations and assessments of the children and what they can and can not do. 

Here at Penny Pot Nursery we use an online portal to share observations, photopgraphs and assessments of your child. Assessments are produced and shared with parents at the end of each term outlining the progress of your child and any areas of particular interest or aditional support needed. 

Each room has is own specific learning goals that links in with the overall curriculum

At Home Support 

To support your child's independance at nursery, and to ensure that your child has all the necessary skills to embark on the next stage of their learning we encourage parents to promote age appropriate self care skills such as:- 

• Minimise the use of dummies as over use of dummies can hinder a child's language development 
• Encourgae children to walk when able
• Dress and Undress themselves (Coats, shoes, socks) 
• Feed themselves using a vaiety of cutlery as well as encouraging to cut their food
• Drink from an age appropriate cup 
• Support toilet training from approximatley 30 months of age 
• Reduce daily naps from approximatley 30 months of age

We operate an open door policy and if at any point parents have a concern regarding their child's development we encourgae parents to share their concerns with the nursery to ensble us to work together and equally if children have a special interest we encourgae parents to share this with us so we can endeavour to feed this interest into our daily activities and learning opportunities.
